Opened right. Closed right. Cared for all season.

Pool equipment repair in Putnam County, NY from Bobby Bahama Pools covers everything on the pad: pumps that won't prime, filters running high, heaters that won't fire, salt cells that stopped making chlorine, and plumbing that drips. We diagnose first and give you a straight answer on repair versus replace. We work on Hayward, Pentair, and Jandy, plus the other major brands, across Putnam, Westchester, and Dutchess. Call (914) 382-5972.

Pool Pump Repair and Replacement

The pump is the heart of the system, and it's the part that fails most. Common calls: it hums but won't start, it runs but won't prime, it leaks at the shaft seal, or it's gotten loud. Some of those are a seal or capacitor. Some are a motor. We'll tell you which. If the pump is old and single-speed, we'll also tell you what a variable speed upgrade would do to your electric bill, because in most Hudson Valley homes it pays for itself in a couple of seasons. We install new pumps and variable speed upgrades from Hayward, Pentair, and Jandy.

Filter Repair and Replacement

Sand, cartridge, or DE, we service all three. Cloudy water with high filter pressure usually means the media is spent: sand that's channeled, a cartridge that's torn, or DE grids that have split. We replace sand media, cartridges, and DE grids, repair or replace the multiport valve, and replace cracked tanks and housings when it's time. If the filter is undersized for the pool, which happens more than you'd think, we'll say so.

Pool Heater Repair and Installation

Gas heaters and heat pumps both have a long list of reasons not to fire: a dirty burner, a failed igniter, a pressure switch, low gas pressure, a tripped high-limit, or a mouse nest from winter. We diagnose heaters on site and repair what's repairable. When a heater is past saving, we install replacements and size them for your pool, not for the box that's on sale. Heaters get serviced at pool opening and drained at pool closing, which is when most problems get caught.

Salt Systems, Chlorinators, and Automation

Salt chlorine generators need their cell cleaned, their salt level kept in range, and eventually a new cell. We install new salt systems, replace cells, and troubleshoot the "low salt" and "no flow" codes that don't always mean what they say. We also repair and replace inline chlorinators, timers, controls, and automation panels, and we fix the small stuff that stops a pool: pressure gauges, valves, unions, and leaks at the equipment pad.

Pool Lights and LED Upgrades

A pool light that's out is usually a bulb, a gasket, or a GFCI tripping for a reason. We replace bulbs and gaskets, diagnose electrical faults at the niche, and upgrade older incandescent fixtures to LED, which run cooler, last longer, and cost less to run.

Why us

Why Choose Bobby Bahama Pools for Equipment Repair

We diagnose before we quote.

No one gets sold a new pump for a bad capacitor.

Repair versus replace, straight.

If a repair buys you one more season on a fifteen-year-old pump, we'll tell you that too, and let you decide.

We see it every week.

For weekly pool service customers, most equipment problems get caught on a routine visit, while they're still small.

The brands you already own.

Hayward, Pentair, Jandy, and the other major names. We stock common parts and order the rest.

Pool Equipment Repair FAQ

Do you charge a diagnostic fee?

We'll explain how we price repairs when you call, before we come out. There's no travel fee anywhere in Putnam, Westchester, or Dutchess.

My pump runs but the water doesn't move. What is it?

Usually a prime problem: an air leak on the suction side, a clogged impeller, or a bad lid gasket. Sometimes a closed valve. It's one of the most common calls we get and usually a same-visit fix.

Should I replace my single-speed pump with a variable speed?

If the pump is more than a few years old or the motor is failing, yes. Variable speed pumps use a fraction of the electricity at normal circulation speeds. We'll give you a price for both options.

Can you install equipment I bought online?

Ask us before you buy. We'll tell you if it's the right size and type for your pool, and whether the warranty holds when it's not installed by a dealer.

Do you repair above-ground pool equipment?

Yes. Above-ground pumps and filters are smaller, but they fail the same ways.
