Inground and Above-Ground Vinyl Liner Replacement

Opened right. Closed right. Cared for all season.

Pool liner replacement in Putnam County, NY from Bobby Bahama Pools covers the whole job: measuring, ordering the right liner, pulling the old one, prepping the floor and walls, setting the new liner, replacing gaskets, and getting the water back in. We replace inground and above-ground liners across Putnam, Westchester, and Dutchess. If yours is faded, wrinkled, pulling out of the track, or losing water, call (914) 382-5972.

Signs Your Liner Is Done

Water loss you can't explain, more than an inch a week beyond evaporation
Wrinkles that keep coming back after you smooth them
The liner pulling out of the bead track at the top
Fading, chalking, or brittle spots, especially at the waterline
Patches on patches
A liner older than ten to twelve years, even if it looks okay

One leak can be patched. A liner with three of the above is at the end of its life, and spending on patches is money you'd rather put toward the replacement. We'll tell you which situation you're in.

How a Liner Replacement Works

  1. STEP 1

    Measure.

We measure the pool precisely, including steps, depths, and any custom shape, and check the condition of the walls, floor, and bead receiver.

  2. STEP 2

    Choose.

You pick the pattern, color, and thickness. We'll show you what's available and what holds up best in the Hudson Valley sun.

  3. STEP 3

    Order.

Custom liners take a few weeks to arrive, so timing matters. Spring and early fall are the best windows.

  4. STEP 4

    Remove and prep.

Old liner out and disposed of. Floor smoothed, wall foam and floor pad installed where needed, bead receiver and coping repaired if they need it.

  5. STEP 5

    Install.

New liner set, vacuumed tight to the walls, and the water started. Skimmer, return, light, and step gaskets replaced with new ones, which is where most future leaks would start.

  6. STEP 6

    Fill and finish.

We coordinate the fill, cut in the fittings as the water rises, and balance the water once the pool is full.

Inground Liners

Inground vinyl pools in Putnam and Westchester are mostly custom shapes with steps, which means a measured, custom-ordered liner. We handle the measuring and the ordering so the liner fits the first time. Wall foam adds a layer of protection and comfort; a new floor pad keeps the liner off rough concrete or vermiculite. Both are worth doing while the pool is empty, because you won't have another chance for a decade.

Above-Ground Liners

Above-ground liners come in overlap, beaded, and unibead styles, and getting the right one for your wall matters. We replace all three, repair the top track or bead receiver if it's bent, and install new wall foam and floor padding. An above-ground liner replacement is usually a one-day job, and it's the single biggest upgrade you can make to an older above-ground pool.

Liner Leak Detection and Patching

Not every leak means a new liner. A single tear from a toy, a dog, or a bad skimmer gasket can be found and patched underwater. We locate leaks, patch what's patchable, and replace skimmer, return, and step gaskets, which are the most common culprits. If the liner is otherwise healthy, a patch is the honest answer. If it isn't, we'll say so.

Why us

Why Choose Bobby Bahama Pools for Liner Replacement

Measured right the first time.

A liner that doesn't fit is a wasted order and a lost month. We measure carefully and double check the steps.

Gaskets replaced, not reused.

Every fitting gets new gaskets. It's a small cost and it's where most liner leaks start.

We'll see it again.

Your liner gets inspected at every pool opening and pool closing, so problems get caught early.

Pool Liner Replacement FAQ

How long does a pool liner last in New York?

Typically ten to fifteen years for inground, a bit less for above-ground. Sun, chemistry, and how the pool was closed each winter all matter.

When is the best time to replace a liner?

Spring before opening, or early fall right before closing. Summer is possible but takes the pool out of use during swim season. Liners are custom-ordered, so plan a few weeks ahead.

Can you replace just part of a liner?

No. Liners are one piece. Small damage can be patched; anything beyond that is a full replacement.

Will the water need to be drained?

Yes, fully. We coordinate the drain, and the refill once the new liner is in. Don't drain a vinyl pool yourself and leave it empty; the walls and floor can shift.

Do you replace liners in Westchester and Dutchess?

Yes. All three counties, no travel fee.
