Winter pool cover installation in Putnam County, NY from Bobby Bahama Pools means a cover measured for your pool, anchored into your deck, and tensioned so it holds through a Hudson Valley winter. We install and replace mesh and solid safety covers from Merlin, Loop-Loc, and Meyco, repair anchors, springs, and straps, and put winter covers on above-ground pools across Putnam, Westchester, and Dutchess. Mesh or Solid: Which Cover Is Right for Your Pool

Mesh safety covers

let rain and snowmelt drain through, so there's never standing water on top and no cover pump to babysit. They're lighter, easier to handle, and the most common choice in Putnam and Westchester. The tradeoff: fine silt and sunlight get through, so the water usually needs a deep clean at opening.

Solid safety covers

block everything, so the water comes off clear in spring. They need a cover pump to move rain and melt off the top, or a mesh drain panel in the center. They're heavier and a little more work to install and remove.

Both are safety-rated, anchored into the deck with brass anchors and steel springs, and will hold a child, a dog, or a winter's worth of snow. We'll walk you through which one fits your pool, your trees, and how much you want to deal with in spring.

New Safety Cover Installation

A safety cover is custom to your pool, so the job starts with a careful measure: the shape, the steps, any raised walls, spa spillovers, or obstructions in the deck. We order the cover, then install it by drilling anchors into concrete, pavers, or wood decking, setting the springs, and tensioning it evenly so it sits flat and drum-tight. A properly installed cover should look like a trampoline, not a tarp.

Most new covers go on at pool closing, and the measuring can happen earlier in the season so the cover is here when it's time.

Cover Repair: Anchors, Springs, Straps, and Patches

A cover doesn't need to be replaced because one strap tore. We replace broken springs, stripped or seized anchors, frayed straps, and buckles, and we patch small tears and seam separations. If the anchors have pulled out of a cracked deck, we reset them. Bring it up at closing and we'll handle it in the same visit.

Winter Cover Replacement

Signs it's time: straps that have stretched so the cover sags, mesh that tears when you pull it, a solid cover that's gone brittle, or a cover that was never the right size and has been cinched down with ratchet straps. A sagging cover collects water and debris, pulls on the anchors, and is the kind of thing that collapses into the pool in February. We'll measure, order, and install the replacement, and dispose of the old one.

Above-Ground Winter Covers and Leaf Nets

Above-ground pools use a different setup: a winter cover held by a cable and winch, an air pillow to take the ice pressure off the walls, and often a leaf net on top so the cover isn't holding fifty pounds of wet leaves by November. We install all of it at closing and replace worn covers and cables. For heavily treed yards in the lake communities, a leaf net is the best money you'll spend on the pool.

Why us

Why Choose Bobby Bahama Pools for Winter Covers

Measured for your pool.

A cover that's six inches off doesn't tension right and fails early. We measure carefully, including the steps and obstructions.

Installed by the people who close the pool.

The cover goes on as part of the closing, by someone who knows how the pool was winterized.

Serviced every year.

At pool opening we remove, clean, and store the cover, and we check anchors and springs every fall before it goes back on.

Winter Pool Cover FAQ

Is a safety cover worth it over a standard winter cover?

For an inground pool, yes. A safety cover is anchored into the deck, holds weight, and lasts many seasons. A standard tarp-style cover held down with water bags blows off, tears, and can't be walked on.

How long does a safety cover last?

Mesh covers commonly last ten to fifteen years. Solid covers a bit less. Springs and straps may need replacing along the way.

Can you install a safety cover on a pool with a raised spa or waterfall?

Yes. Those details are part of the measure, and the cover is built around them.

Do you need the deck to be concrete?

No. We anchor into concrete, pavers, and wood decking. Each uses a different anchor type.

Which brands do you install?

Merlin, Loop-Loc, and Meyco, both mesh and solid. If you already have a cover from another maker, we can usually repair it and replace springs and anchors.
