About Serving Brewster

Brewster is the eastern end of our Putnam County route, out Route 6 and Route 22 from Putnam Valley. It's lake country. Putnam Lake, Peach Lake, and Tonetta Lake each have a neighborhood of smaller lots, heavy on above-ground pools and seasonal residents, so openings and closings get booked around arrivals and departures.

The Village of Brewster and Brewster Hill have older lots with established inground pools. The Town of Southeast around them, out toward Deans Corners, Milltown, Dykemans, and Sodom, has larger properties and newer inground pools, some with heaters and safety covers, and Tilly Foster Farm is the landmark on that side. The lakes bring spring pollen and a fall leaf load, and the east side of the county gets more wind off the hills, which matters for how tight a winter cover goes on.

Year-round

Pool Care Through the Brewster Seasons

Spring

Pool opening in Brewster starts mid-April, and the lake communities at Putnam Lake and Peach Lake book around their owners' arrival dates. Pollen off the trees around Tonetta Lake is heavy enough that a second skim after opening is standard.

Summer

Weekly pool service in Brewster keeps the Route 22 pools clear, and algae control at Brewster Hill and around Tonetta Lake is a weekly job in July. Seasonal owners get a visit and a note whether or not they're there.

Fall

Pool closing in Brewster runs late September through October. The lake lots close after the leaf drop with a final cleanup, winterization gets every line blown out, and covers on the exposed Route 22 corridor get tensioned for the wind.

Winter

Off-season is for safety cover repairs, equipment upgrades, and liner planning for the above-ground pools at Putnam Lake so they're ready when the owners come back.
