About Serving Thornwood
Thornwood is a hamlet of the Town of Mount Pleasant in Westchester County, a short drive from Putnam Valley down the Taconic, off at Hawthorne for Route 141 or the Saw Mill. Hawthorne and Valhalla sit on either side, and Pleasantville is up the Harlem Line. The center is Four Corners, where Route 141 meets Kensico Road, and the residential streets run off Commerce Street and Marble Avenue.
The lots are suburban size, and the pools go with them: inground vinyl and above-ground, many old enough that a liner, a pump, or a filter is due. The Kensico Reservoir is the hamlet's east edge, and Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla is the park everyone knows. Reservoir land is wooded, so the streets toward it get pollen on the water in May and a heavy leaf drop at closing.
